Our children will inherit the planet as we have left it to them. As a company, we feel it is our responsibility to create products that benefit our children today as well as tomorrow.
STEM Blocks are made in Thailand from the wood of the Para rubber tree. Formerly a waste product that would be burned at the end of its lifespan, rubberwood is now harvested and turned into other products, like our toys!
From Our Family to Yours
When we couldn't find the sort of resource we wanted, we decided to create our own. Thus STEM Blocks was born!
In its first year, Kontu has sold over 4,000 kits in eight different countries. We feel blessed to be helping families around the world engage their young children in early math and STEM learning.
We are a small family business aiming for big impact. Please join us on this journey. We hope to meet you!
Grows with your child as they grow
Such a beautifully made product with lots of possibilities for open ended play. We have used them for simple maths counting but also in our imaginary small-world play for hay bales. We love our set!

I purchased this for my second grader who is having a little trouble learning math facts and concepts. Until we were unexpectedly homeschooling, I wasn’t fully aware of her struggles and wondered if Kontu was too simple to help her. I’m so glad I ordered the large kit! Kontu is the PERFECT visual and manipulative to help with understanding part/whole and learning math facts with better speed.

Kontu STEM blocks are a wonderful addition to our toys! The activities naturally lend themselves to rich conversations about parts and wholes, comparing numbers, and benchmark numbers. To top it off, these blocks are incredibly well made. They are a noticeably higher quality than most toys on the market. I know they will be part of our STEM activities for years to come.
These new and exciting wooden toys have been an instant success in our classroom! The children are enjoying the magnet feature and are using them in many ways! Thank you for designing an excellent product!

Early math skills are critical to children's cognitive development and set the stage for later learning and achievement. Because of this important fact, we've made it our Mission to help underserved children and their families gain access and support in early math and STEM.
Presently, Kontu donates a percentage of sales to the National Black Child Development Institute, a non-profit dedicated to the success and well-being of Black children. As Kontu grows, we aim to make a direct impact for underserved children via an early childhood math program for families.
